Broman Group’s mission is to always be on the move with responsibility and sustainability in consideration. For us it means safe products, valuable work and well-being for everyone involved in our value chain. We also take growing responsibility in saving energy and improving resurce efficiency. We have an important role in supporting and carrying responsibility in our society.
Care is a feeling we want all of our employees and customers to feel. It is a central part of our value chain. When we take care of each other, we also ensure a more sustainable society and community around us.
A fair working life
We have over 2,000 employees in five different countries under almost a hundred different job titles. Over 60 percent of our employees have a permanent contract, and the average age of our employees is a bit over 30 years.
We work with enthusiasm and a helping hand. Our annual employee survey reveals enthusiasm as the largest factor in well-being at the workplace. This is because many of our employees get to work with their hobbies and passions.
Leadership should be of equal quality. Good leadership means equality at the workplace and a zero-tolerance policy against inappropriate behaviour and bullying. Good leadership also means constant improvement and constant learning, which we strongly encourage our employees to engage in.
Health and safety
We pay close attention to mental health and our goal is to lower the number of absences relating to mental health issues. Mental health also has an important role when coaching new leaders and cooperating with our occupational healthcare.
To help us tackle mental health related issues, we have a program with clear goals and indicators, and make an effort to identify signs of exhaustion and struggle early on. We underline open and freequent communication between healthcare professionals, management and employees.
At our logistics centre, our staff is our priority. We cherish their safety by performing regular audits and keeping the workers’ surroundings clean. Automated logistics services increase safety, because it means less forklifts, improved ergonomics and less physical work.
A safe customer experience
Equally important to safe working conditions is a safe customer experience. It consists of concrete things, such as sufficient lighting in entrances and parking lots and effective prevention of slipping during winter. It also entails good working manners, like managing customer data in a secure way.
We appreciate the large amount of customer feedback we get from our customer service. Thanks to the feedback and our loyal customers, we have reached our milestones faster and gained recognition for our hard work both nationally and internationally. Excellent customer service is guaranteed by equal treatment of customers, responsible securing of customer data, big smiles and good advice.
A profitable and sustainable growth together with entrepreneurship are of great importance for our company. It is a way for us to lead the company and hold responsibility in areas beyond our business. As a family company, we want to showcase all the important work we do to make sure Broman Group thrives for generations to come. Broman Group in Finland has been given the Key Flag Symbol, which requires e.g. a Finnish head office and Finnish management.
Taxes, growth and investments
At Broman Group economic growth happens through growth, sustainability and employment. Without profitable and responsible growth, we would not have been able to create new jobs and make all of our investments.
We want to renew and grow by acting consciously. Some key events in the past years that have led to our growth are expanding Motonet to Sweden and investing over 70 million euros in our logistics centre in Kerava.
Heritage, jobs and society
We are proud of our heritage, which we want to show through representing and aiding especially entrepreneurship and family businesses. Broman Group is represented by three generations, which means that we can have a close relationship to society, to customers, to employees and to other partners.
We employ over 2,000 people and offer many young people the start to their careers. It is a point of honour for us to show teenagers and young adults what a reliable and good employer should look like.
We encourage DIY and stand by the motto “maintain, repair and improve lifetime”. Property and transport have big impact on the environment in our operation and because a sustainable use of these assets is in our own hands, we constantly seek ways to improve their ecological footprint.
Circular economy
We make sustainable choices for our customers. We choose products that have as transparent as possible supply chain, that endure time and use, that can be recycled and that are packaged effectively.
Everything does not need to be owned. We let trailers to consumers and special tools to car repair shops, and we continue to expand our rental services in the future to ensure better economic choices.
Did you know that many spare parts are recyclable? We send core returns back to the manufacturers, where they are made into new spare parts. We also help you recycle old batteries, old tyres and car workshop equipment correctly and sustainably.
In waste management our goal is to minimise the creation of waste and to recycle as much as possible. Most of the waste is packaging materials, such as plastic. All plastic and cardboard from our daily operations are either sent to a recycling facility or reused.
Energy efficiency
Because building makes a significant part of the ecological footprint of our property, we want to impact the choices involved in the process by taking an active role.
We mainly operate in property owned by Broman Group. We make sure to plan and build energy efficient buildings and constantly improve the efficiency along the way. Energy efficiency consists of energy efficient materials, technical solutions, detailed maintenance planning and choices that last a lifetime. The ecological efficiency has been improved through solar and geothermal energy. Over 1.8 million kilowatt hours come from solar energy each year.
Emissions
We are currently calculating our carbon dioxide emissions to better understand our impact on climate change and how to combat it best.
Transporting goods is a big part of our operations. We take advantage of our own transport and logistics services, which allows us to plan the processes ourselves and minimise the ecological impact.
For international shipments we prefer boats, and for national shipments we optimise both deliveries and returns. We choose partners that make active efforts to minimise their emissions and that use renewable energy whenever possible. Our partners use modern transportation technologies that fit much cargo and run on biofuel.
In our quest towards a sustainable future, we focus on sustainable consumption, an improved ecological footprint and equal and fair employment. To help us keep on track, we have created a road to sustainability plan that sets clear goals and metres for us. This increases our impact and prepares us for even greater requirements and goals in the future.
A leader in sustainability
Responsibility and sustainability are one of our key focuses and values. At management level, the CEO of Broman Group has the main responsibility. The concrete work is done by a task force made up of experts from different areas. The implementation and monitoring of the practices is surveilled by the leadership and their teams. Our operations follow our Ethical Code of Conduct, to which every employee is committed.
